Purpose of the award:
To acknowledge and support translational cancer research being conducted by nurses and allied health workers.
Value:
One annual award of $3000, to be spent on any research activity. Successful recipients will provide a brief report indicating how the award assisted furthering their research journey.
Who is eligible:
Eligibility will be limited to those NZSO members who are nurses and allied health workers in New Zealand and engaged in translational cancer research. Acknowledging the limited resources and time allotted to conduct this research, applicants will be encouraged to apply based on any experience with translational cancer research. Definition of nurses and allied health workers include a wide range of practitioners in cancer care delivery, including dieticians, physiotherapists, laboratory technologists, occupational therapists, social workers, Hauora Māori kaitiaki, etc. The definition of translational cancer research is wider than the traditional bench to bedside. The scope includes working to implement proven treatment, translating evidence into policy, or even translation of practitioner and patient expertise to mould scientific questions. We encourage you to push the boundaries the definitions if you are taking place in any kind of translational cancer research, and apply.
